For those of you new to the organization, Tech Perspectives is a gathering of everyone in the technology/operations/engineering teams to get to know each other better and to learn more about what other people are working on.

We'll have 20+ presentations covering all technical areas of Verizon Digital Media Services: the operational side of building/automating our network of 20,000+ servers and devices; the software that runs our EdgeCast, upLynk, Volicon and other services, including global load-balancing, caching technology, streaming platforms, security systems, and more; the advanced R&D going on to make our systems more scalable/reliable/efficient; and the organizational processes we are building to support all of the above.

WILL IT BE DIFFERENT THAN LAST YEAR?

This year's event will have a larger audience and a much larger conference room at the Marina del Rey Marriott.  In addition, we are extending the conference from 2 full-days to 2.5 days, with a team dinner and cocktail hour at the end of both day 1 and 2.  Finally, the overwhelming feedback from last year was that while the tech conversations were great, we needed to provide more business context.  Therefore we will be inviting at least 2-3 guest speakers on stage to discuss things such as the larger CDN market landscape, how we stack up, and how our roadmap reflects current market needs.

For those traveling, please book your hotel room by Monday, August 8th.

From the C-Suite to the Shop Floor: Well-Being for All

There is no question that the aims of the C-Suite and the shop floor need to be aligned and congruent; health improvement has always required interconnectivity between the organization and its subgroups and individuals. But here’s the big audacious challenge: Health risks and related costs have not abated, and the pathways between well-being and business performance are still being forged in both science and practice. As HEROForum17 demonstrated so powerfully, socio-ecological models for health and the influence of the built environment, families, and communities are vitally linked. At HEROForum18, we are dedicated to elevating the conversation in worksite health promotion by bringing new thinking, open and honest disciplined reflection and, as always, innovative new strategies and tools to make well-being possible for all.

  • HEROForum17

    September 12, 2017 – September 14, 2017

Long anticipated trends are now being felt in the form of transformational challenges by businesses and communities. Millennials are now our majority generation, 8000 Baby Boomers are leaving the workforce every day, and America still rightfully claims world leader status in attracting immigrant brain power and labor. Such demographic diversity is accelerating changes in workplace policies, environments, and cultural practices that could positively impact employee and community health, but may also produce unintended consequences. At the 2017 HERO Forum in Phoenix, Arizona on September 12-14, we will be featuring national thought leaders and workplace practitioners with evidence to share concerning how best to turn these transformations into opportunities for improving health, well-being, and performance.
